Rememberance Day Nails.

So I've been looking out for a poppy for Rememberance Day however for some reason I've found it really difficult! Surprising considering I live in a fairly tradition orientated city! I figured whilst I'm on the lookout I could show my support through my nails. So here is the result!

I started off with a base coat of OPI - Nail Envy followed with NYC - Pinstripe White, my new favourite white. I've always been a huge fan of Barry M but found their white way too difficult to use so with a little bit of searching found this beauty! NYC is definitely chasing up to Barry M in my book. Well worth a purchase.

After I got a nice base coat I sponged on the 'grass and sky' using some cheap and cheerful make up sponges from Poundland to create the gradient effect. The colours are Barry M - Pure Turqoise and George from Asda - Gnome (best supermarket own bran ever!) I hate doing gradients and am not very good at them but fortunately this design meant I could go over with a small paintbrush for the grass texture and hide any nasties.

Finally I used Maybelline - Deep Red and a dotting tool with black acrylic paint for the poppies.

After a few more strokes of green and two top coats of Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri I used a small paintbrush for the cleanup.

My First Post!

So welcome to my blog. As it's my first post I want to keep it nice and simple and show you the first piece of 'serious' nail art I ever did way back in 2009 after watching one of my favourite kids movies of all time The BFG! I can't for the life of me remember what polishes were used but I am going to take a wild guess at Barry M - Matte White as the base and a selection of acrylic paint for the rest.
I hope you like it and come back for my next post which shouldn't be too long.
